Reading Rolex reference numbers — a buyer checklist
What the digits usually mean, what to confirm on film, and when to ask the desk before you pay.

The reference is the contract
Case size, bezel, material and generation sit in the reference string. If the page says one number and the film shows another silhouette, stop and ask — do not GL.

- Reference on the page matches the dial/bezel you want.
- Case size fits your wrist (see wrist fit).
- Movement option (Japanese / Swiss) is the one you priced.
- QC film shows the exact piece, not a catalogue stand-in.
