The Swiss movement is $50 more. That figure buys the rate, the reserve and a movement that reads correctly through a glass back — not a different watch.

Which we would take. If it is to be worn every day and serviced down the road from you, the Japanese is the honest answer. If it has to survive a loupe against the reference — or the caseback is glass and the movement is meant to be seen — take the Swiss.

Description

Panerai is a real money pit; you can only gradually fill it up with money, and sometimes it might be impossible to fill it up no matter what. For example, you painstakingly choose the Radiomir, classic, right? But the second day you wear it, you suddenly feel it's not so appealing anymore, the Luminor is much better, so the second Panerai is on the agenda. Then you realize the dial isn't simple enough, the two hands are more classic, and the third one is already beckoning you. Then you think the double M is more beautiful, after the sandwich dial you want the boutonniere and the Paris stud, the 42 doesn't feel enough, the 47 is better... Is your wallet not thick enough? That's right.

Panerai has that kind of magic that makes you unable to resist. That's why the experts say, "The ocean is boundless, but turn back before it's too late." Spend a little money to get a lot; buy the basic model, and you'll have everything you need. In the end, it's all about the same.

The choice of the 968 is primarily due to the legendary status of the previous three generations of the bronze watch. While it's true that this generation of bronze watches shows signs of decline, not to mention the imminent release of the smaller version of the 671, the 1074, the ultimate in bronze, it still possesses a unique charm, as watch enthusiasts have accurately assessed. It is, after all, Panerai's last flagship model and currently the only Panerai that requires a purchase of additional items at authorized dealers. For this charm, you would undoubtedly be willing to pay any price.

VS Exquisite: Panerai Submersible Collection PAM00968 Watch (small calf leather - bronze / brown ceramic, counter-clockwise rotating bezel with graduations - brown dial, P.9010 custom automatic, 47mm), paying tribute to those who went against the tide, God bless India.

One of our own frames rather than a catalogue picture — included because it shows what a white background hides.
