The movement inside This reference is built with either calibre. The choice changes the price, the rate and the reserve — nothing else about the watch.
| Base | Seiko NH35 or Miyota 8215, automatic | Swiss clone of the maison's own calibre |
|---|---|---|
| Rate | ±15 to 25 seconds a day | ±5 to 10 seconds a day |
| Reserve | About 40 hours | 55 to 70 hours |
| Balance | 21,600 A/h · six beats a second | 28,800 A/h · eight beats a second |
| Servicing | Any watchmaker can service it; parts are everywhere | Serviced by a specialist; finished as the original is |
| Suited to | Wearing daily, keeping simply, spending less | Matching the reference exactly, and glass casebacks |
The Swiss movement is $50 more. That figure buys the rate, the reserve and a movement that reads correctly through a glass back — not a different watch.
Which we would take. If it is to be worn every day and serviced down the road from you, the Japanese is the honest answer. If it has to survive a loupe against the reference — or the caseback is glass and the movement is meant to be seen — take the Swiss.
The exact base calibre for this reference is confirmed in writing, with the QC film, before anything is dispatched. The two movements, explained

Description
The new APS Audemars Piguet 15500 all-ceramic model has arrived. Combining ceramic material with the complex functions of the Cal. 4302 integrated movement, it sets a new standard for craftsmanship and innovation. It not only continues the classic aesthetics of the Royal Oak but also breaks through the limitations of traditional materials, making it a benchmark of modern haute horlogerie.
1. Advantages of ceramic material: high hardness and scratch resistance: Made of precision ceramic (such as zirconium oxide), its hardness far exceeds that of stainless steel. It is not easy to get scratched during daily wear and maintains its luster for a long time.
Lightweight and comfortable to wear: Lighter than metal materials, reducing the burden on the wrist and suitable for long-term wear.
Anti-allergenic and corrosion resistant: Ceramic is chemically stable, does not easily cause skin sensitivity, and is resistant to sweat and corrosion.
Unique texture: The surface is finely polished or matte, presenting a deep luster or understated texture. It is available in three color options: black, white, and a rare blue.
2. Integrated Case and Strap Design: The APS case and strap are seamlessly integrated, continuing the Royal Oak's iconic octagonal bezel and "Tapisserie" dial, while the ceramic material gives it a modern feel.
Complex process: APS uses ceramic sintering, which is extremely difficult and requires precise control of temperature and pressure, resulting in a low yield and highlighting the technical strength.
Details: The strap links are beveled and polished, with smooth edges for a comfortable fit on the wrist; the case thickness is approximately 10.5 mm, balancing complex craftsmanship with wearing comfort.
